| SCATTERED SITES
In 1989 the Providence Housing Authority demolished three high-rise structures
at the Hartford Park development. These units were replaced with 252 units
of single and duplex "scattered site" housing located throughout
the city. Today the PHA has 244 units of scattered site housing because
over the past several years, the PHA has sold six of its single-family
units under the 5(h) homeownership program. This program allows housing
authorities to sell units to qualified public housing residents who participate
in the Family Self-Sufficiency Program.
