Providence Housing Authority Application Process

Application Form:

Applicants obtain and complete an application for public housing at 100 Broad Street.

Applicants interested in Family Housing must complete a Pre-Application prior to applying for housing. Download Pre-Application Here

Reciept Letter:

Applicants receive a receipt letter, which states application date, bedroom size required, and expected wait on the list.

Screening:

PHA investigates applicant’s past behavior to verify suitability for admission, including landlord references, court records, police records, and a home-visit.

Verification:

All information in the written application relative to the family’s composition, income, and family assets is verified.

Waiting List:

Eligible applicants are placed on an authority-wide waiting list based on unit size and date of application.

*When a unit becomes available, it is offered to the person at the top of the waiting list.*
