| HARTFORD PARK
Hartford Park, located in the Hartford neighborhood, is the largest of
the PHA's developments, with 508 units of family and elderly/disabled
housing. Primarily a family development, Hartford Park is comprised of
two-story wood row-houses, three-story concrete walk-up buildings, and
an eleven-story elderly/disabled high-rise. The high-rise includes a police
substation that houses the offices of the Providence Police Department's
Public Housing Unit and the PHA's Facilities Management headquarters.
First occupied in 1953, Hartford Park once included three additional high-rise
buildings that housed family residents. These three buildings were demolished
and replaced with low-rise units during an extensive modernization project
that was completed in 1997. Like Manton Heights and Chad Brown, Hartford
Park has its own community center located on-site.
